REFURBISHMENT EDUCATION PROJECT

Backwell Secondary Academy

Backwell School joined the Lighthouse Schools Partnership Multi-Academy Trust in January 2018.

The Trust includes both primary and secondary schools, including many other local primary schools.  This means that Backwell School in Bristol can benefit both from improved continuity moving from primary to secondary school and sharing of best practice between teachers and learning professionals across the trust. Backwell Secondary Academy is a designated National Teaching School as a result of the very high standards of teaching in the school, and leads the North Somerset Teaching Alliance (NSTA).

In March 2019 Hazlemere Commercial completed a substantial fenestration refurbishment at Backwell School in Bristol. Working directly for the School Hazlemere were commissioned to survey, manufacture and install replacement thermally broken aluminium windows and doors to the value of £450,000 + VAT.

The products that were fabricated in Hazlemere Commercial’s 38,000 square feet aluminium fenestration factory in High Wycombe were white gloss RAL 9910 Gi powder coated Sapa Dualframe DF75 Si double glazed aluminium casement windows and matching white Sapa Stormframe STII thermally broken commercial aluminium double glazed entrance doors.

Hazlemere Commercial had to survey all the existing single pane steel framed windows and doors prior to fabrication, then remove and dispose of the existing windows in an environmentally friendly way as Hazlemere are ISO 14001 accredited for Waste Management.
