Sapa Dualframe SI Tilt Before Turn Installation

Sustainable solutions brought to you by Sapa Building Systems

Responding to the constant needs of changing legislation and adapting to new and innovative design trends, Sapa Building Systems has launched two new state-of-the-art products. Although very different in terms of function, both push the boundaries of sustainability.

NRGY62 is the first product in the NRGY range; a brand new family of curtain walling products from Sapa, one of Europe’s largest suppliers of environmentally sustainable and energy-efficient aluminium building system solutions. It has been designed as a complete façade solution for architecturally lead projects and offers a high level of thermal performance.

Its 62mm width allows for greater building movement while smart pins are a cost effective and simple connection method able to support glass weights up to 600kgs. This in turn allows for larger glass areas to be used, which increases the glass to aluminium ratio within the curtain wall and with it the overall thermal performance.

Heat exchanger units can be built into the façade to help with heating and cooling, while solar shading can also be integrated into the system to help improve a building’s energy performance.

Secondly, Avantis 95 is a state-of the- art window system which has been certified as Passivhaus compliant.

The product is one of the slimmest Passivhaus windows on the market, creating a sleek, contemporary finish that balances performance with design while still being inherently robust allowing vent weights of up to 170kg. It is available in a wide range of applications; turn, tilt and turn, bottom hung and fixed as well as a wide range of colours (including dual-colour).

Its outstanding performance includes water tightness to 1950 Pascals and a Uw of 0.8 W/m2k achieved with triple glazing Ug 0.7 W/m2k (1.23m x 1.48m TBT), making it one of the most high performing aluminium windows on the market. The Avantis 95 meets class 4 (air), class E1950 (water) and class C5 (wind load).

While 20,000 Passivhaus dwellings have been created in mainland Europe, it is still an emerging concept in the UK, with relatively few projects completed. This means there is huge potential for growth, especially in light of a move towards more comprehensive energy efficiency targets for buildings.
